Throat cancer is cancerous tumors that grow or develop in a person’s throat (pharynx), tonsils or voice box (larynx). This type of cancer can affect the epiglottis which serves as your windpipe lid.

Nowadays, more than 75% of sore throat cases are primarily caused by smoking, abusive alcohol consumption and using of tobacco products. All these factors increase the risk of throat cancer. With the onset of the cancer, the first to be adversely affected is the saliva glands followed by the sinuses, mucous glands and tongue.

There are four basic types of thyroid gland tumors such as Follicular, Papillary, Ana Plastic and Medullar. The first two mentioned types are non- recurring ones while the last two mentioned ones are malignant.

As seen in many different throat cancer pictures, this cancer has several signs and symptoms including acute neck pain (front and back areas), loss of appetite, difficulty in swallowing, hoarseness or low pitched voice, lymph nodes swelling, dull facial exp​ression, skin dryness and cold intolerance, menstrual loss in women, cramps and pain in muscles, enlarged goiter, noticeable weight gain, loss of memory, constipation, anemia and deafness.

Can throat cancer be treated? How? The treatment of this condition starts by seeking medical care regularly throughout one’s life. The treatment aims at curing permanently the cancer or bringing about a complete disease remission.

The common treatments for throat cancer are chemotherapy (to combat cancer cells), surgery (to remove the disease), radiation therapy (to fight cancer cells) and clinical trials. There are a lot more treatments and therapies for this form of cancer such as acupuncture, massage therapy, yoga and the like.
